Rolled Oat Bars

These are the quickest muesli bars to make and yummy.

In a bowl combine
1 cup of flour (I use spelt flour)
2 cups of rolled oats
1/2 cup of castor sugar
and mix with your hand
put your hand in the bowl and give it a bit of a whirl
brush off the crumbs
on the stove heat up
150 grams of butter or marg (whatever blows your hair back)
when the butter is melted add
2 tablespoons of Golden Syrup
mix it with a spoon, cause if you use your hand it will burn
don’t ask me how I know
pour the hot butter and golden syrup onto your dry ingredients
and mix
spread out
now your spoon is all goopy with syrup
so get a clean spoon and scrap it clean
this is vital to the next step
go on, what is one more spoon to wash up
use the back of the clean spoon to press down the mixture
run it up and down making it nice and smooth
Yummy …  wait we have to bake it yet
pop it into a moderate oven for 15 – 20 minutes
While it is still hot, straight out of the oven
cut it into pieces
wait until it is completely cool before taking out of the tray
Perfect for school lunches, morning teas, taking to work for coffee break or after school snack.
I first started baking these and taking them to my local Australian Breastfeeding Association morning teas.
